Does anyone know if online "paid" survey sites are for real ?

I've stumbled upon a few websites that claim to "pay" you to complete online consumer surveys. Some of them ask for money up front before giving away details. Has anyone tried this and are they a rip off ?

I am actually a member of a couple of survey sites that are legit, and I have been paid by them. Not tons of money but I've made as much as $15.00 for one survey. There are a bunch that are not. All of the ones that are not legit will ask for money up front, do not sign up for those. Then there are some that only pay you if you complete offers. The offers almost always cost you money, like they want you to join Netflix or something like that. I have my own freebie website where I give out info on things like this, you are welcome to check it out.

Reply:Be careful. I filled out one of those questionnaires a couple weeks ago and now every day I have like 75 bulk email messages from different companies that I have to take the time to delete. The things they send me were the boxes I didn't check meaning I wasn't interested, but they ciontinue to send massive emails.

They are by invite only or by clicking on their rare advertising banners. There are forums on the web that specialise in telling people where their banners can be found.

It may take you a day or two to find an active banner of theirs but the rewards are worthwhile.

Sometimes you get free samples through the post to test and try before they hit the shops.
Reply:well there are paid survey sites. but there are alot of them out there that are scams also. and if they ask u money first thats totally scam. the sites that i know are paying sometimes they send u samples if you qualify age wise or what ever they are looking for as qualification and when u test it. and answer survey they send u a check. like i tested a lotion and i was paid 15$ and for cosmetics i was paid 25$ . there are some sites that ask u to do surveys and your points build up and when you reach certain points then you get a check. and how fast your points build up or if you get paid totally depends on the questions you answer and how you answer them.

that way youre not handing over youre usual bank details,or any cash in advance and you'll get a statement to prove its been recvd

I'm a student and I need some extra cash. I'd really like to take paid surveys, but it seems that anywhere I go there's either a fee associated, or its just a bunch of "just do this and then we'll send you your paid survey" and it never happens.

Is there really a website where I can get paid to take surveys without a registration fee?

Reply:There are several.... NPDOR, Greenfield Online, NFO Mysurvey, American Consumer Opinion, Zoom Panel.

I have been involved with these survey companies for about a year and it takes a long time to earn enough money to make any kind of difference.

Some companies give you points and when you earn enough points you can get a check sent to you i.e. each survey taken earns you 5-50 points... it takes 1,000 points to get $10... the lowest amount of money they bother to send.

One survey company sends me test cigarettes and then sends or calls with a survey- I get a $10 check a couple weeks after completing the survey.

Then there's the problem of when you get an invite (delivered through your email) you don't always qualify to take a survey as they are looking for a certain demographic.

Also, surveys that ask what deal you want to participate in and offer a list of products and services with checkboxes are phoney survey companies. A legitimate one will never ask you to complete an "offer"--they will only collect info- not try to get you to buy something. So be aware of those.

There is no quick or easy money to be had with survey companies. While they can be fun... they are not very lucrative.

The only reason I joined was because it gives me something to do at work.... lots of down time.

Now I'm on Answers all the time and I have a bunch of surveys that I have to take but can't get off here!

Reply:Sorry, there are many schemes and scams out there that will have you filling out surveys for hours waiting to get to the end for a prize or cash....only to find out that in the end you have to buy something (which still doesn't guarantee you the prize or money.)
Reply:Yes there are. The problem is sorting out the reputable ones from the duds. The other snag is that very often you get paid in 'points' which are sometimes redeemable for cash but most often redeemable for selected goods and services. Also, it takes a while before they begin sending you many surveys - they need to know your reputability and reliability in answering surveys and they also need a quite detailed demographic profile from you initially.

If you are prepared to jump through their hoops, though, and fit the kind of audience they need to be answering their surveys, it can be a reasonable little side earner.

Personally, I have been doing surveys for over a year now and been getting paid monthly by check! My tip for making a good income is to join 3 or 4 survey sites, visit the home page regularly and putting in the time and effort..I spend about an hour a night (my free time) doing these surveys and I do make a good income! To try to be more helpful, I will post a link that I found from a previous answer! Of course, just don't expect to be a millionaire overnight!

Reply:The ones that offer to pay big bucks are usually scams. The only ones that pay reliably, don't pay very much. They generally operate on a point system - earn so many points for a particular survey, trade so many points for cash or raffle tickets or prizes. I once did dozens of surveys a year and earned $20. It's not a very investment of your time unless you really like giving your opinion - you really can't earn big money at it.

Reply:There isn't really a best ONE. I've been taking paide surveys for a while online (4 or 5 years now) and I've found that one site will be really active in sending surveys for a while, then other times other ones will send more. Basically, different companies use different survey sites to conduct their surveys, so to qualify for the most paid surveys its better to be signed up with various sites, not just one.

I've listed some of the sites I have taken surveys through and actually been paid (or recieved other rewards like gift cards or CDS) on the following site, if you are interested:

I list how they pay you, what I like and dislike about them, whether they have an affiliate or referral program, etc.

I'll also ditto someone's suggestion of Global Test Market. I just recently signed up with them (so I haven't added them to the site yet) but they seem to be sending paid surveys really frequently, and will give you some points even if you only qualify for part of a survey.

There are others out there. Be careful though, there are also scams. Don't sign up for any survey site which asks you to pay to access the surveys. Also watch for language like "get paid for taking surveys AND SIGNING UP FOR OFFERS" if you don't want to have to sign up for stuff with other companies to get paid.

Always carefully read their terms of service and privacy policy. If in their privacy policy they say they only use aggregated info, this is GOOD SIGN they are legit. Aggregated info information that is grouped together so it can't be connected with anyones personal identification like name, e-mail, phone or address. That's what survey sites SHOULD collect. Avoid sites that say they give, rent, or sell any personal information (info that is not agregated) to third parties (unless you really don't mind getting junk mail, telemarketing calls, and spam).

I have seen several GPT sites (Get Paid To) lately. GPT Read, GPT Click, GPT Survey. If they actually come thru and pay you is it all legit?

Has anyone had any luck with these sites??

What about taxes?? They do not give 1099s.

If they are legit and US based, they must ask for your social security number when you sign up because by law, yes, they must send out 1099. However, if you don't make enough to generate the 1099, then you are not going to get one.

Which brings me to another thought... when I sit here and read all these answers of people who have two-three-four different affiliate company links on them as recomendations, that makes me wonder.... if that person is making so much money, why do they have to join so many affiliates? And then - how on earth does that person have that much time to spend going from one program to another trying to make that money? One thing to think about also.... when you join, they receive benefit... that's pretty standard.

I recently wrote a blog, the link can be found in the second paragraph of my profile here... giving advice for people wanting to create additional income from home.... It's not a sales pitch and is all generic information. Before you go spend countless hours reading, clicking, for $.085-$20, you might want to read it as food for thought.

Reply:There are several survey sites that are legit, your not going to get rich doing them though. Do not give anyone your SSN there are lots of sites out there that are legit and they do not need this info from you. Nor do you have to pay to join. I am a member of several. The one I have had the most luck with is Lightspeed. They do not pay you cash you get points which can be converted into cash via pay pal. However, they send me the most surveys. And already twice now I have been asked to participate in a more extensive survey in which I was sent a palm pilot in the mail and asked to record certain daily activities. The ones I have completed offered a $50 incentive and that was in the form of a check in addition to the points I received for completing the initial survey. I have also done survey savy which has a great referral program if you know people who will join you get money for surveys they complete. I have also tried American Consumer Opinion. They pay by check in mail for all surveys, but I have not been able to complete many of their surveys. I did a lot of research before joining these. You also need to be a regular email checker because if you don't respond to the survey fast enough they have met their quota. I am pleased with these sites and looking to join some new ones.

Whilst most market research companies are looking for the opinions of adults, some panels accept members under 18 and some are specifically looking for the opinions of teenagers. If you visit http://www.whichsurveys.com you'll find a section of UK teen panels you can join.

Additionally many of the adult panels also have questions for the children of panelists to complete, so if you can persuade a parent to join, they then simply pass the surveys over to you when they come in. My 11 year old son gets regular surveys to complete this way.

I personally use 3 of them. All 3 of them are legit. I use 3 because they don't pay you a whole lot. Most of them range from $4-$50 for each survey. You won't get a whole lot of the 50 dollar ones...Note that you won't receive a survey everyday. You only receive one when ever your survey is right for you (You fill out a background screening for each website so they know what surveys to give you).

So your probably not going to get rich off of them but you can't really complain about a little extra cash in the pocket.

It usually means they want a poll that represents their target audiences for their products. Usually this targeted group of people are from countries that has potential of buying the products. So far, I haven't hear of one for India.

The site that I use doesn't require you to pay for anything it just requires you to get to the end of the survey by just skipping through everything and saying no to the offers. Reply:There are several sites. Do not give anyone your SSN there are lots of sites out there that are legit and they do not need this info from you. Nor do you have to pay to join. I am a member of several. The one I have had the most luck with is Lightspeed. They do not pay you cash you get points which can be converted into cash via pay pal. However, they send me the most surveys. And already twice now I have been asked to participate in a more extensive survey in which I was sent a palm pilot in the mail and asked to record certain daily activities. The ones I have completed offered a $50 incentive and that was in the form of a check in addition to the points I received for completing the initial survey. I have also done survey savy which has a great referral program if you know people who will join you get money for surveys they complete. I have also tried American Consumer Opinion. They pay by check in mail for all surveys, but I have not been able to complete many of their surveys. I did a lot of research before joining these three. You also need to be a regular email checker because if you don't respond to the survey fast enough they have met their quota. I am pleased with these sites and looking to join some new ones.

It depends on what your company is selling/manufacturing.

If you're in hi-tech like me, we've been using several surveys for compensation survey/salary survey, benefits survey, including executive compensation, sales compensation...

Radford Surveys seems to be very reliable. Just go to their web site and look at the key clients, you'll see the big names there.

Besides, we've also used Salary .com. A lot of free resouces, and sample data.

Again, it's up to what your company is making. Many times, you've got to buy 2 or more surveys at the same time initially, and drop some out later on. Also depend on your budget...

Reply:I'm sure some of the sites are scams, but both yougov and testandvote are genuine. With yougov, they send a cheque when your account reaches £50 (I think). testandvote allows you to exchange your points for Amazon vouchers. I am a member of both, and know that they don't charge any fees.
Reply:The paid survey sites never seem to work for me-it's usually either they have enough participants and don't need you or you just don't fit the demographics they're looking for.

I did find one site that lets you do both surveys and offers and get paid for doing them for free. It's called cashcrate. I found it while researching similar at home business opportunities (I'm kinda strapped for cash too ^^')

I started a month ago and hopefully I'll be receiving my check soon (I earned about 10 dollars, which isn't so bad considering I only did the free offers 'cause I was kinda skeptical)

I've done some research on Paid Survey sites on the internet, but I'd like your opinion on what are the best one's. They must be good in the Netherlands because some sites are for U.S. residents only. I don't want to do any where you have to pay $39.99 or something first. While I've never heard of "Greenfield Online Paid Survey Company," I'd try to stay away from "work from home" survey jobs.

While there IS money to be made from home, typing or surveys are not the best way to go.

The best way to go is to start your own business!

When I say that, I mean there are really a number of ways to make money online.

Here are just a few of them:

1. Make a website or blog on a topic that you know about.

Then, you sign up to AdSense and other PPC content sharers, and you make money when people click on your links.

2. Sell an actual product

You can still make money by selling advertising space, but this way, you make money by selling a product.

3. Sell a digital downloadable product.

Like an eBook or some other type of digital product. This way, you don't have to deal with postage or anything like that. It's like an online vending machine!

It's really easy to set up websites like these. In fact, you can buy a website on eBay for very very little time or money, and start making money within a week or two of marketing your website!

Anyways, I hope this post helps you to see other avenues of making money online...

Never join any sites that require a sign up fee as they are almost always scams.

I have been taking paid surveys for nearly a year now, it takes me around 10 minutes every second day, and I make about $80 - $100 a month which isn't bad for the amount of time it takes me.

I know that there are a lot of scams out there offering easy money. I have tried many and there are a couple of survey sites I would recommend.

These sites are honestly free to join and you can make money simply by completing daily surveys and if you have a little extra time by completing the 100% free offers---which involve clicking no for a couple of minutes.

(Most importantly I have always been paid right away)

The first 4 sites will pay by check or paypal. The 5th site is a bit of a pain, but it’s easy money. The last site will pay in points that can be easily converted into dollars. (plus the Spiderbyte site is kinda fun and user friendly) Also another site worth checking out is Cashcrate. You won’t make thousands of dollars per month because that is honestly not possible---the sites that promise you this are straight up lying. But with these sites it is easy to make an extra few hundred bucks a month.

When creating your profile---keep your interests very broad and open so you can be selected for more surveys. And also I recommend setting up a new e-mail address. Most importantly Never, ever give out your credit card information or ssn information. Likely you understand this; it’s just that sometimes company’s can be very tricky and their offers really temping. As a personal note I actually work in customer care for a credit card company and I have unfortunately seen way too many times where company’s offering free trials will continue to bill people for months. Which is a headache for all involved. (Accept lol for the sneaky company)

This one is not that good for surveys, got none so far, but you get $8 - 10 (depends what voucher you want) or so for each person you refer, sadly you can only have 20 referrals, but still good money.

I've earned money from Your 2 cents. I've registered with almost all the sites at surveybounty so can say they are legitimate. There have been some consolidations, so I think that you can get a survey from greenfieldonline and it will be a survey from another survey company.

I do surveys for fun and to get my opinion out, so do some without compensation. It's amazing what sort of things you will be asked to do: give suggestions on an ad campaign, tell about your cell phone use, tell what might convince you to shop at pet store a versus pet store b.

They will share proprietary information you can't tell anyone about. Sometimes I'll see a product that I did a survey on and it has changed because of the survey.

And, it's fun when a check does come in.

I have heard recently about this, filling in surveys and earn money, is this a scam? If so what sites are scam and which site/s are non-scam (if any)?

The rule, as always, is to stay away from those that ask you to pay before you can get these surveys.

Legitimate market survey companies such as Pinecone Research recruit members based on demographic characteristics -- e.g. mothers of babies 0-12 years old -- and will send surveys of products and services targeting this demographic group. Pinecone Research, however, pays only $5 per survey -- you're definitely not going to be rich with that. They can give you anywhere from 1-5 at most surveys in a month.

Other companies simply ask you to answer as many research as possible, and you don't earn anything just the chance to win at a raffle (which I find lame).

For some reason Australian market research companies tend to pay in cash or vouchers rather than using Paypal, but some international companies like Lightspeed do offer this option.

Reply:There are many survey websites out there, but the problem is that many, and I do mean MANY of them are scams. They will just send you promotional stuffs and not surveys. Don't bother paying for those surveys websites that claim to have hundreds of survey websites either. They only care about the numbers, and not quality. So you will find lots of scam in them.

You can try the website below. I use it myself. It is free, and so far I can say that I don't have any complaints with it.

But you do have to be realistic. You are not going to make thousands or get rich from this. You can make a little nice extra pocket money, but do not get fooled into thinking you are going to be able to retire from this.

I also recommend that you create a new e-mail address especially for surveys. Just in case they ever send you spam. Good Luck!

All of those big bucks, no experience, little work online jobs are scams. Either they want money up front or they are collecting personal info. The handful of legit call center companies have very long waiting lists and if you get to the top of the list, you won't get enough assignments to make any money.

Instead look to what you know how to do -- babysit, sew, music lessons, woodworking.... start your own business.

Reply:They make their money from the people joining the site. One thing none of the survey sites tells you in advance is you must COMPLETE a survey to get paid. The surveys are written to bounce people out when they give one answer the wrong way. As a result, you spend your time trying to figure out what they WANT you to say. Doesn't work. I started over two hundred surveys and got paid for ONE. Oh, they get the answers they really want early in the survey before they bounce you out so they are basically getting your responses for free.

I did do some surveys, but no further information was received for taking them. Some of the tricks that I use to check out survey sites are I check out their forums and read some of the threads! Also check out the sites homepage, see how much money was paid out to the members this month, how many members belong to the site, how many current offers are available. These are the things that I did when I first started and today I belong 3 different surveys sites that pay me monthly, I participate in their forums (a lot of insider tips are available) and keep in contact with other members..Also I will post a previous answer that offer more information

In my experience, none of the "paid survey" sites end up paying 99% of participants; often there are too few surveys available to ever accrue the minimum-payout amount.

The ones that have payed me the most per survey are American Consumer Oppinion, Esearch, and Your2Cents, though e-search sends them infrequently.

Different sites will earn differently for different people though--some sites have more surveys for people in business while others will have more on buying habits, etc. So you might qaulify for differnt surveys then I would.

Do not give anyone your SSN there are lots of sites out there that are legit and they do not need this info from you. Nor do you have to pay to join. I am a member of several. The one I have had the most luck with is Lightspeed. They do not pay you cash you get points which can be converted into cash via pay pal. However, they send me the most surveys. And already twice now I have been asked to participate in a more extensive survey in which I was sent a palm pilot in the mail and asked to record certain daily activities. The ones I have completed offered a $50 incentive and that was in the form of a check in addition to the points I received for completing the initial survey. I have also done survey savy which has a great referral program if you know people who will join you get money for surveys they complete. I have also tried American Consumer Opinion. They pay by check in mail for all surveys, but I have not been able to complete many of their surveys. Pinecone is also great. You have to have an invitation to join though. They send one or two surveys a month. They are great though cause you will have a few days or a week to answer the survey if you don't check your email religiously. Then they send a check in the mail pronto.

Reply:Yes :) definately there are better surveys sites. I personally make good extra money answering paid surveys. The sites I use pay out regularly by check or paypal and are completely free to join.

I usually will spend a couple of hours a day answering surveys and average about $45 a day = $950-$1400 a month. (the more time you’re able to spend the more money you’ll make)

The only real trick to making decent money is to sign up with a few reliable free sites. Never pay to join a survey site though---there are plenty of free sites available! :)

However, there are quite a few sites that will pay you a decent amount of cash for a survey.

The reason you are ineligible for most paid surveys is because of your demographic. Perhaps they have surveys only intended for men or older people.

I am a highly competent 14yr. old and I'd like a little extra money. I feel that if 18yr. olds can, by law, take paid surveys then so can I. Before you say that "kids" have to start from the bottom know only that I am a 9th grade high school student with all A averages in an all gifted schedule. Know also that I am taking college classes as well. I just though you should know that before you judge me by my age and by my "place" in society.

Reply:I've tried a few. All of them were a waste. They credit your account a few pennies per survey and you can't get the cash until you reach a certain amount. I'd bet that as soon as you approach the amount they stop sending you e-mails. The others give you a "sweepstakes" ticket for your trouble. I think they get paid to collect the information and scam people into giving it to them for free. Do as you please, but I wouldn't do it again.

Also I use www.yourvoice.com.au, this is OK the rewards are really good although I am not sent many surveys but they are very reliable.

If you use paypal and buy things online, www.ciaosurveys.com.au is OK, although getting your money can take some time.

There are alot of dodgy websites out there and you should do research so you don't waste your time.

From what I've heard, yeah. A parenting magazine I read had an article about these types of sites earlier this year. (I can't remember which parenting magazine because I read several--it may have been Parents but I'm not sure). They said these sites usually mainly sign ou up for other legitimate paid survey sites which you can access free on your own elsewhere. They paid the writer to sign up with one of these sites and she found that the surveys she qualified to take barely paid for the cost of the membership. (I don't remember if she signsed up for several sites, or just one...and I don't believe they named which one).

I like taking the free ones though. I make about $20 a month doing that. Listed some of them here:

I have been doing surveys for over a year now, and I don't believe in paying to do surveys (most of them are outdated lists) or sites that pay you in points or entries into sweepstakes ..I rather get paid in cash (monthly checks) for my time and effort. pinecone research is good for paid surveys, however you can't just go to their website and join normally you need to find a banner ad to apply and even then they don't accept everyone...but they also send you products that are not on the market yet to test.

There are several survey sites that are legit, your not going to get rich doing them though. Do not give anyone your SSN there are lots of sites out there that are legit and they do not need this info from you. Nor do you have to pay to join. I am a member of several. The one I have had the most luck with is Lightspeed. They do not pay you cash you get points which can be converted into cash via pay pal. However, they send me the most surveys. And already twice now I have been asked to participate in a more extensive survey in which I was sent a palm pilot in the mail and asked to record certain daily activities. The ones I have completed offered a $50 incentive and that was in the form of a check in addition to the points I received for completing the initial survey. I have also done survey savy which has a great referral program if you know people who will join you get money for surveys they complete. I have also tried American Consumer Opinion. They pay by check in mail for all surveys, but I have not been able to complete many of their surveys. I did a lot of research before joining these. You also need to be a regular email checker because if you don't respond to the survey fast enough they have met their quota. I am pleased with these sites and looking to join some new ones.

Pinecone is also great. You have to have an invitation to join though. Right now they are looking for males over 18. Email me if you want the invitation. They send one or two surveys a month. They are great though cause you will have a few days or a week to answer the survey if you don't check your email religiously. Then they send a check in the mail pronto.

I personally make good extra money answering paid surveys. The sites I use pay out regularly by check or paypal and are completely free to join.

I usually will spend a couple of hours a day answering surveys and average about $45 a day = $950-$1400 a month. (the more time you’re able to spend the more money you’ll make)

The only real trick to making decent money is to sign up with a few reliable free sites. Never pay to join a survey site though---there are plenty of free sites available! :)

Reply:Well, some are legitimate sites which are safe to use and usually pay moderate amounts ($0.50-$15 per survey...I've only gotten one that payed more than that in the 4 years I've been doing this).

I've listed most of the sites I have taken surveys through and actually been paid (or received other rewards like gift cards or CD'S) on the following webpage:

I list how they pay you, what I like and dislike about them, whether they have an affiliate or referral program, etc. (And yes, if I say they have an affiliate program, I'm part of it, and make a commission when someone signs up through that link...I like to be up front about that).

But watch out--there are also scams out there. Here are some tips to avoid them:

Don't sign up for any survey site which asks you to pay to access the surveys. Also watch for language like "get paid for taking surveys AND SIGNING UP FOR OFFERS" if you don't want to have to sign up for stuff with other companies to get paid.

Always carefully read their terms of service and privacy policy. If in their privacy policy they say they only use aggregated info, this is GOOD SIGN they are legit. Aggregated info information that is grouped together so it can't be connected with anyones personal identification like name, e-mail, phone or address. That's what survey sites SHOULD collect. Avoid sites that say they give, rent, or sell any personal information (info that is not aggregated) to third parties (unless you really don't mind getting junk mail, telemarketing calls, and spam).

Also, never sign up for a survey through an unsolicited e-mail--since these might not even be from the site they claim to be, but could be a phishing scheme to get your information and mis-use it. And never give your credit card info--there is no good reason a legitimate free site would need it.

I did sign up once to do some surveys, and found myself a victim of identify theft. they ask so many questions and you find yourself giving out personal information you normally wouldn't give anyone. Then you get your mail flooded with spam, and your home mailbox flooded with unsolicited mail. I won't sign up for anything any more. They can't pay me enough to surrender my privacy.

Reply:I would heavily advise against that...I know it sounds like such a good idea. But way too many people end up being victims of identity theft from things like that. Not to mention...they never get their 'money' they were supposedly to get. Instead...they might get bad credit for 7 years due to fraud committed or debt created in their name by someone who stole their identity.
Reply:i've been a member of both of those sites for a while now and i can say that they are legit and you don't have to pay anything to sign up. all you do is take surveys and/or sign up for free trials. it's really easy and i just do it when i'm sitting at home being bored (i'm taking surveys about a total of 1-2 hours a day on average) and i make about $80 a month from each of those sites...sometimes a little more, depending on how much time i spend on it...so i make almost $200 extra dollars a month. theres people that make more, like i said, it just depends on how much time you spend on there. good luck!

Reply:I joined several survey sites and stayed for over a year. I got very few surveys and those that I did, did not get paid "cash" but earned points that could be cashed in for items. You needed many many points before you could cash them in for something worthwhile. I had 200 points in at one site and there was nothing of any value to cash them in for.

The surveys are usually very targetted... they are looking for a specific group or type of person to survey. Because of my location I was not a good survey candidate. I found they were more often geared to large urban areas. That meant that sometimes I went through whole survey which may have taken up to 20 min. to complete and then was politely told that I did not meet all their requirements for this survey but was given a "token" (5) number of points to account for my time.

Is that a scam? Well, they didn't ask me for money and run away with it. Is it a waste of a person's precious time? I would answer a definite YES to the second and be thankful that I didn't lose any money.

I thought that maybe I could earn "up to $75 per survey" as some of the ads said so signed up because I was not going lose any money by joining a free program. There is value in free in some things but not this one in my experience.

It's teenseyes (plural "teen"), not teeneyes. Make sure you get the URL correct.

http://www.teenseyes.com *does* appear to be a reputable research/survey site. It's apparently backed by a legitimate market research firm based in Chicago that gives you points of contact for their actual staff and office building, and it states that it's approved by the Better Business Bureau.

http://www.teeneyes.com, on the other hand, is just a parked URL that does nothing but lead to dozens of spam sites. Avoid it!

However, a lot of the surveys you only get an entry into sweepstakes. They do have some they pay for though. Would be cool to win the sweepstakes though.

I am a member of several sites. The one I have had the most luck with is Lightspeed. They do not pay you cash you get points which can be converted into cash via pay pal. However, they send me the most surveys. And already twice now I have been asked to participate in a more extensive survey in which I was sent a palm pilot in the mail and asked to record certain daily activities. The ones I have completed offered a $50 incentive and that was in the form of a check in addition to the points I received for completing the initial survey. I have also done survey savy which has a great referral program if you know people who will join you get money for surveys they complete. I have also tried American Consumer Opinion. They pay by check in mail for all surveys, but I have not been able to complete many of their surveys. Pinecone is also great. You have to have an invitation to join though. They send one or two surveys a month. They are great though cause you will have a few days or a week to answer the survey if you don't check your email religiously. Then they send a check in the mail pronto.

Ok..this sort of depends on which state you are in so here are some general guidelines

First of all, it depends upon what type of survey you had done before. If it was just topographical, it may not contain the boundary information you seek. If he set the corners then you have a good chance of getting another copy...

1) Every professional surveyor is licensed by the state and receives a unique number. That number will be (or should be) on any survey stake that he set in your property that is boundary related. Using the number (or his name if you know it) You can get the name and mailing address of that surveyor from the state to contact him and request a copy.

2) If you can contact the company he worked for, then start your search there. If they are out of business or unreachable go back to step 1

3) In many states, a survey must be filed with the county recorder... that is your next step. See if the County recorder has copies of surveys (in California they are called Record of Surveys or Corner Records - different documents), and if one has been filed that relates to your property it is a simple matter to get a copy.

Be prepared for a County recorder that does not know the answer to this - because they deal just with filing paper.. not necessarily knowing what the paper means. If that is the case contact your City or County surveyor for some free but likely non-specific help.

Lastly, you can call other surveyors in the area.. they may already know about your property from having surveyed nearby and can simply put you in direct contact with the original surveyor.. or they can assist you (for the cost of their time) in finding who did it and how to get a copy.

Reply:You should be able to get a copy from the company that did the survey 6 years ago... just call them and ask.

If you can't remember the name of the company that did the survey, you might be able to find information about the survey at the county clerk's real estate records office.

If that doesn't work, then you will probably have to have another survey done.

Reply:Your land survey is a matter of public record. Go down to the county recorders office and ask for the plot map. If it will not show enough details call the company that had done the report for you if you can remember who it was and ask for a copy.

Reply:Think about it logically....You will never make serious money filling out surveys. There are ways to make real money online but you have to actually put in some work. I wasted my time with countless survey sites, ultimately getting nowhere. The checks I received were never worth the amount of work I had to put in to earn the money. So, I decided to focus the time I was using to fill out surveys on real online business ventures. I am now pulling in over $30 K a year working from my computer. I do put in a lot of time on my websites, so I would not recommend the business to very lazy people. Reply:Most of them are. They're real pains in the neck because they require you to sign up for a certain number of "sponsor offers" to get your cash or reward. I tried a couple of times, thinking "OK, I don't mind buying 3 things just to try it out, since the reward is a computer if it really works" and ended up lost in an endless maze of popups windows and links to more paid surveys, with no clear way to simply sign up for the things I'd originally planned to buy.

Yes they work but the pay is more than lousy. You will make more money at any other job outside of your home even if it is for the minimal wage.

Lot of surveys will pay in draw entries or coupons for useless merchandise they can't otherwise get rid of.

The biggest pay-off is in spam you'll receive for most of them will sell your active e-mail address to spammers.

Reply:yeah it works, but you will get so much spam its not even funny. (i did it for a month and averaged 5000 spams a week) I made about 35 dollars doing the surveys total. Also if you are using windows xp, these programs from the sites will infect your computer and everytime you go to a new website a window will pop up and popup blocker doesnt work. I should also mention that its been pushing a year now and that email address i used on the surveys gets about 1,000 spams a week in the spam folder and about 5 per day in my regular inbox.

You can earn a few dollars here and there bt you can't get rich. You can't get rich by getting paid an occassional $5

The rule, as always, is to stay away from those that ask you to pay before you can get these surveys.

Legitimate market survey companies such as Pinecone Research recruit members based on demographic characteristics -- e.g. mothers of babies 0-12 years old -- and will send surveys of products and services targeting this demographic group. Pinecone Research, however, pays only $5 per survey -- you're definitely not going to be rich with that. They can give you anywhere from 1-5 at most surveys in a month.

Other companies simply ask you to answer as many research as possible, and you don't earn anything just the chance to win at a raffle (which I find lame).

I always use http://www.whichsurveys.com and have never found a site on there that hasn't paid me. They list hundreds of market research companies that will pay you for your opinion, all sorted geographically with a paragraph or two about each one, including payment details.

In general, the more active sites are listed first, so the best way is to simply start at the beginning and work through the list. You're unlikely to earn much from each individual company, but by signing up with a number, you'll find that one or another has surveys for you to complete every day.

Never join any sites that require a sign up fee as they are almost always scams.

I have been taking paid surveys for nearly a year now, it takes me around 10 minutes every second day, and I make about $80 - $100 a month which isn't bad for the amount of time it takes me.

p.s since this is not A scam, u dont get surveys that often (sometimes i dont get one for a month) okay so anyways each survey u complete is worth a certain amount of "points". anywhere from 5 points to 50. once u reach 1000 points, they wil send you a 50 dollar cheque in the mail. p.s dont expect this soon but take the ones they send u and after a while u will get 100 points! :)

Reply:Stay away from online surveys. Try finding a marketing company near your home and do panel studies. You make much more money (I once made over $250 in a week), and they usually last anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours. I have a background in sales and marketing and was a marketing coordinator for several years, and some of these online places wanted to use our workers to conduct these surveys, and we tried it once and nobody got paid.

One of my friends made only $55. He mostly got paid by referring people, spamming on MySpace and other sites, than by taking actual surveys. Afterward $190 was taken out of his c.c., apparently unbeknownst to him. Was it worth it? Obviously not.

Get onto a Search Engine eg. http://yahoo.com and type in the search text box (Note use double quotes) “is (such and such URL) a scam”. If you get some results, click on a few of them to see what people are saying about the business. If a lot of the comments are bad then it is a warning sign to stay away from that work at home site.

Remember

1. Some people are very petty, so you must consider the statements made before listing the company as bad.

2. Some do not read the fine print when signing up or do not fully understand the concept therefore when a problem arises they complain loud and long.

3. Many of these companies have hundred of thousands of clients but have only a few complaints.

4. Make considered judgements.

They basically lie and tell you that you get paid '5 bucks a survey' when in fact 99% of survey companies pay you nothing. Most survey companies say 'fill out this survey and you will entered in a drawing to win XXX amount of money.' While these sites are legitimate, they simply wont pay you money the vast majority of the time. In theory, you could take hundreds of surveys a day, and win a drawing or two on occasion. But I wouldn't bet on it.

Also, most of the surveys are directed at certain people in certain age groups and you will not even be able to participate in most of them.

And on top of that - anyone who tries to charge you money for free information is supicious. I would not do this if I were you.

It's good if you have downtime at work etc. I have seen some that only pay you a dollar, others $5. There are websites that use point systems then pay when you accumulate a few points. im using treasuretroopers, sendearnings, and inbox dollars. TT pays .75 cents daily, sendearnings $1 daily, and inbox dollars $1 daily. So im saying if I just do the daily surveys for 10 sites I would make $10 a day profit, although I wouldnt bve able to cash out until say 2 months but I would get like near $600 every 2 months. Does this make sense or am I thinking too wishful? I know the 3 sites I listed pay and have daily surveys, so doesnt it seem logical to find 7 more paying sites with daily surveys that pay? Reply:In my experience, most of the surveys are looking for a targeted audience ... if you are able to complete the survey without being "disqualified" along the way, you will get paid ... the trick is to fit their target criteria (which they do not tell you) ... also, they tend to only pay for the first "x" number of COMPLETED surveys, any that are answered beyond that number are not compensated. I have yet to find one that was worth my effort

Mystery Shopper are real. Being a secret shopper is not a career. It set up for people who love to shop and make money alone the way. This job is ideal for anyone who pays close attention to detail and have a great memory. The person you are evaluating should not know you are a secret shopper. You must be prepared to spend your own money first and be reimbursed after wards. This could take up to 1 month before you are reimbursed. You are an independent contract and required to pay taxes on it at the end of the year.

You should go to http://www.mysteryshop.org/ and look at the website. Choose your location and look for assignments. You will see that you would either be reimbursed for your purchase or they will pay you a small fee such as $10.00 for the completed shop. You need to register and receive a MPSA certificate before you start getting assignments. If you are not able to pass the test you could still apply for a mystery shop but keep in mind you might not get that shop if someone else have a MPSA certification number. Good luck and remember this is for people who would normally shop a lot because receiving $10.00 for your time at a shop that might last an hour or two, plus you have to drive there than, believe me it might be worth it for 10.00 extra dollars

Reply:if you see those ads on the web-site and news papers they are FRAUD!! be careful. I almost got caught up in one, but thank godness I was smart enought to do some investigation. If you get a call from them they will act like the are real and make it sound good to work for them. You will receive a check in the mail for $2500.00 with a letter giving you instructions on how to go to money gram or any cash check place to cash the check. You will keep $500 and transfer $2000 to there account. It just sound to goog to be true to me that is why I did my investigation and found out that the check was fake.

But there are companies that do hire secret shoppers; companies like Commerce Bank. but you would have to apply directly through them. I know that because I use to work for them and they have a lot of mystery shopper to grade their employees. Therefore, be careful and be smart. If it sound to good to be true than it is.
Reply:Whilst the sites trying to sell you information "promise the moon" there is a sound basis to their claims - only not to the income levels they claim. Market research companies have been canvassing opinon for decades but the advent of the internet has made it much easier for them to collect this information, from a wider range of demographics. Of course, to ensure they get the number of responses they need, incentives have to be offer, hence the chance to get paid.

Unfortunately, the income levels claimed are not the norm. Whilst you may well earn $75+ for an online forum lasting an hour or two or for visiting a top of the range car showroom to book a test drive, most online surveys last no more than 20 minutes and will usually pay you in the region of $2-$5 (more for longer surveys). In reality, this means most people will earn in the region of $100-$200 a month plus a few products to test.

If you're still interested, there are several good free directories of paid survey sites. The one I always use is http://www.whichsurveys.com which gives details of hundreds of companies, sorted by country. I've not yet found a site on that that hasn't paid me.

As regards mysery shopping, this is much more competitive than it once was, so rates have fallen dramatically in the last couple of years. I have some free survey sites that are very reliable just check out my profile by clicking my name or email me for them. I only give sites that I've been paid by so you won't get scammed. They're all reliable and I've never had a problem with them. (I've been doing them for a year now) The best part is that anyone can do them and they're easy. You won't get rich but they definitely help with bills :)
